Trip to Nikko and running out of gas

Lang-8にて、英作文の添削をしていただきました。

I went on a trip to Nikko with my wife and one of my friends last weekend. We stayed there overnight from Saturday to Sunday.
In Nikko, we saw some temple buildings at Tosho-gu, and ate soft cream at the Osasa farm.
On our way home, we drove on the Tohoku highway. When we were driving around Urawa on the highway, our car ran out of gas.
We came off the highway quickly via the Urawa exit, and searched for a gas station using the car navigation system. We found some gas stations on the system and went for the nearest one. However, it had closed down. Then, we went for the second one, but it had closed down too. We were worried that we couldn't get gas at all.
Even so, we continued to search for a gas station. Then, we tried to go for the third one. At last, it was open and we succeed in getting gas.
After filling the car up with gas, we all were relieved and felt hungry. So, we went to a restaurant and enjoyed the last dinner of the trip.
